Sabie Gypsy’s Backpackers is a laid-back, family-run spot right here in Sabie — perfect for a good night’s rest while you explore the Panorama Route and everything our little mountain town has to offer.
We’re long-time locals and love sharing what we know, whether that’s pointing you to hidden waterfalls, must-do hikes, or helping you book adventure activities in the area. If you’re keen to explore, just ask — we’re always happy to help.
Accommodation is relaxed and varied, with options to suit different kinds of travellers. We offer a private family suite, five wooden cabins, a three-bedroom house, and a family unit (please note: no under 18s at the Backpackers). Most rooms make use of shared bathrooms, along with our communal kitchen, lounge, and entertainment area — complete with a pool table and foosball table for easy evenings and new friendships.
Outside, you’ll find a seasonal splash pool, a picnic area, and our little dam — a favourite spot to unwind. Bring your own braai/BBQ gear if you’re keen to cook outdoors (we do have one small braai available). There’s complimentary Wi-Fi, secure on-site parking, and plenty of space to relax.
Sabie Gypsy’s is very much a work in progress. We’re always fixing, upgrading, and improving, and we genuinely welcome ideas and input from our guests. What matters most to us is creating a warm, friendly space where travellers from all over the world — and close to home — feel welcome, comfortable, and part of the story.
Pull up a chair, share a story by the fire, and make yourself at home.
